BKC has no shortage of dining and drinking spots, but HyLo Taproom by Igloo brings something distinct to the neighbourhood. After its well-loved Fort outpost, Mayank Bhatt has expanded the brand to Jio World Drive, creating a space where craft beer meets clever cooking. With both indoor and outdoor seating, an upbeat soundtrack, and a food menu anchored in ingredients with GI tags, it strikes the right balance between casual and thoughtful, a spot designed for long, easy evenings.

The Mood

HyLo’s BKC outpost carries the same convivial energy as its original Fort location. The choice of outdoor seating makes it a breezy option for evenings, while the indoor space feels lively without being overwhelming. The music sets a relaxed pace, creating an atmosphere that works equally well for casual after-work drinks or longer weekend nights.

On The Plate

The menu showcases comfort food with playful twists. The PaneerBhuna Curry Dog, stuffed into a house-made bun and paired with rassa and crisps, was a hearty and spice-forward bite that lingered long after the last mouthful. For grazing, the vegetarian platter makes an ideal companion or "chakhna" to pints, bringing together Maharashtrianthecha, cheese, aam papad chaat, olives, and fruit pickle.

Small plates stay inventive without losing heart. The KaaleyChanekeShammiKebab was soft, well-spiced, and made richer by a side of dal makhni. Sonam’s Momo, filled with Naga greens and paired with a fiery chutney, delivered the kind of warmth that instantly evoked the hills. From the mains, the Ema Datshi, Bhutan’s national dish of chillies and cheese, served with a hot tingmo, offered heat, comfort, and plenty of character.

Desserts leaned into playful contrasts. A puranpoli set against a chocolate toast made of MANAM chocolate may sound unusual, but the pairing summed up HyLo’s approach: rooted yet looking to surprise.

What's Pouring?

The taproom’s core remains Igloo’s craft beers. From the crisp Konkan Rice Lager to the bold Heavy Hitter, each brew caters to a different palate. We were excited about their mango craft beer, and it did not disappoint.

Gyug

The Mumbai Daze, with its juicy yet soft note of mango, stood out as a highlight. It paired well with our Vegetarian platter and the curry dog. The bar also offers a variety of other spirits, including whiskey, vodka, and more. Cocktails round out the offering, balancing freshness and punch, like the Bombay 51 with its house-fermented aam panna, or the berry-forward Tiger Tiger.

The ELLE Gourmet Verdict

HyLo Taproom by Igloo at Jio World Drive is a promising spot for after-work hangouts, catching up with friends, or family reunions. With its inventive food, distinctive beers, and unfussy mood, it positions itself as a space that blends experimentation with ease. It’s a place to return to, whether for a quick pint or a lingering night with friends.
